Hometown visits Crestview High School

Posted On: September 22, 2017

Choosing a career path can be challenging when you are in high school and you don’t know what opportunities are available to you. These are huge decisions to make, but by researching different career options, you can find a good match for you.

As the future of the Logistics industry, high school students are a prime audience for the R+L Carriers’ Hometown Showcase. Traveling across the country to invest in these students and their education is important to us. We do this by providing financial scholarships to high school students while also giving them information on preparing to join our ever-growing industry.

On Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, the R+L Carriers Hometown Showcase Hauler took a trip to Columbiana, OH, and visited the students of Crestview High School.

On Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, the R+L Carriers Hometown Showcase Hauler took a trip to Columbiana, OH, and visited the students of Crestview High School. Not only did the students get to explore the hauler and learn about the career options in logistics during the school day, but fans also got the chance to play Cornhole at the football game that night and win a variety of prizes.

Crestview High School Classroom

R+L representatives went from classroom to classroom at Crestview High School giving a presentation about logistics, transportation and the supply chain. To put it in perspective, we talked about how these three portions of the industry make their life easier. The students were surprised to learn that much of their belongings would not have been in their possession without logistics and transportation.

Since this high school was close to our Youngstown Service Center, a few employees came to help out, talk about their experiences with R+L, and the various career opportunities that are right down the road from these students. Throughout the day, the interactive Hometown Showcase hauler was toured by over 400 students.

Great Way to End a Great Day

The Crestview Rebels dominated the Akron North Vikings 48-8 in the football game that night. The Hometown Showcase hauler was parked in front of the main gate of the stadium, which made it a big attraction. Attendants of the football game could take a break and play Cornhole to win prizes such as blankets, stadium seats, t-shirts, and mini R+L footballs. Before the game, R+L Carriers donated $1000 to Crestview High School and presented a $1000 scholarship to the school for a student to be announced later in the school year. We enjoyed educating their students on the career opportunities that R+L has to offer and wanted to show our gratitude for this opportunity to invest in their future.
