Last week our Hometown Showcase made two stops; one at a college in northwestern Ohio and one at a high school in Columbus, Ohio. Even though these two locations were different, we shared one goal: to deliver opportunities to students in America.
University of Northwestern Ohio
Our hauler rolled into the University of Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday and Thursday of last week for a Career Fair. Talented students and alumni from the UNOH College of Applied Technologies were able to speak with local, regional, and national companies including R+L Carriers. Our Hometown Showcase hauler was on full display both days and students had the opportunity to learn more about logistics overall and our many career opportunities.
Students also had a chance to win one of eight $50 Snap-On gift card. Snap-On manufactures high-end tools and equipment, perfect for all the students in the Automotive Technology Program studying to be Mechanics. R+L Carriers’ has a great demand for mechanics, as our fleet needs preventative maintenance and structural repair to keep our freight moving.
If you’re interested in a career in maintenance, learn more or apply for our Mechanic positions.
Bishop Hartley High School
In December of last year, The R+L Carriers Hometown Showcase launched during the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s 44th Annual Football State Championships. The three-day event in Columbus, Ohio featured 14 Ohio high school football team competing for a state championship. During that event, the winner of the Division IV Football Championship was Bishop Harley. The team enjoyed a post game celebration in the Hometown Showcase Championship Zone, and was presented with a $1,000 scholarship. In April of this year, we traveled to Bishop Hartley to present that scholarship to Quri Hickman. Quri is currently playing collegiate football at the University of Toledo.
Last week we traveled back to Bishop Harley and this time we brought our Hometown Showcase hauler to a Friday night football game. Fans were able to tour our hauler, win prizes, and learn about logistics careers. Before the game, we presented Bishop Harley student Jerusha with the Hometown Showcase Student Achievement Award. This award is given to students who excel in the classroom and community.
