The R+L Carriers Hometown Showcase had a busy week in North Carolina.
The third week of September was busy for the R+L Carriers Hometown Showcase, rolling into North Carolina for five days of great activities. We had a great time in the Old North State; can’t wait to be back!
China Grove Service Center
At the China Grove service center, the event kicked off with a recruiting open house, Monday, September 13. Potential applicants learned about various logistics careers; including open positions for drivers, freight handlers, mechanics, information technology staff and sales, to name a few. Afterwards, attendees were able to ask questions about company culture and fill out job applications.
The next day, visitors were treated to an appearance by R+L Carriers sponsored racer, Josh Hart. A NHRA Drag Racing competitor, Hart’s visit served as a prelude to the DeWalt NHRA Carolina Nationals September 17-19, where he was set to compete in the Top Fuel division. Several fans had a chance to meet Hart, taking photos with both racer and the dragster.
Hart would prove victorious at the DeWalt NHRA Carolina Nationals, becoming their 2021 Top Fuel Champion. Congratulations!

Rowan–Cabarrus Community College
Just a short drive from China Grove is the city of Salisbury, home of Rowan–Cabarrus Community College. Wednesday and Thursday, September 15-16, the R+L Carriers Hometown Showcase was on-site, sharing knowledge with students about future logistics careers. Our team also left them with some R+L memorabilia; hopefully, they’ll remember us in their future career search!
South Rowan High School
The R+L Carriers Hometown Showcase made its final stop Friday, September 17 at South Rowan High School. Students visited the hauler, interacting with the Lytx DriveCam seat simulator, affiliate kiosks and 11 HD video displays. They also had a chance to speak with R+L employees, learning about skilled trades, mechanics/engineering, logistics, communications, business and leadership careers.
South Rowan High School senior Langley Ward received an Award of Achievement for outstanding community service.
R+L Carriers donated $1,000 to South Rowan High School in appreciation for their hospitality; welcoming the hauler and providing an opportunity for the R+L team to share career resources with students. The school also received a separate $1,000 scholarship donation, awarded to a graduating senior of their choice in Spring 2022.
Finally, during Friday night’s football game, Senior Langley Ward was presented with an Award of Achievement, in recognition of her exceptional character and community service. Congratulations Langley! Hometown Achievement Award recipients demonstrate the qualities that make their community special and worth showcasing.
