Educating Clinton County Students about Logistics

The R+L Carriers Hometown Showcase travels all over America to provide students with an understanding of transportation, logistics and the many careers associated with it. Logistics is a growing industry with endless career opportunities, and we want to make sure students are educated on all the careers available to them. During the months of September and October, Hometown Showcase visited Clinton Massie High School, East Clinton High School and Blanchester High School with the goal of educating Clinton County students about logistics. Each school is only about 30 minutes from our Corporate Headquarters in Wilmington, OH.

The transportation and logistics industry is projected to grow 22% by the year 2022, so it’s important to let students know the variety of careers in the industry.

Educating Clinton County Students: Logistics Classroom Presentations

These classroom presentations provide students the basics of transportation and logistics. What is transportation, logistics, and supply chain management? Chances are students have heard of these terms before, but may have not thought about them in-depth.  It’s our goal to make this presentation interactive. Through discussion topics, questions, and videos students learn about the world of transportation and logistics. For example:

Hometown Showcase Achievement Award

In addition to providing educational opportunities for students, we also support our mission by providing college scholarships and achievement awards to students who are making a difference in their school and in the community. The Achievement Award is given to a student who demonstrates exceptional sportsmanship, outstanding character, and a commitment to community involvement. The following students received our Hometown Showcase Student Achievement Award.

Hannah D. – Clinton Massie High School

Hannah D. volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House & Quaker Heights Nursing Home.

Hannah is currently studying Sports Medicine at Laurel Oaks. During her high school career, she has participated in volleyball, basketball and softball. She has also volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House & Quaker Heights Nursing Home. Hannah is a worship leader for her church youth group.  She also competed in the Emergency Medical Boards at the state level. Her future ambitions include studying occupational therapy for special needs students and speech pathology.

Aidan H. – East Clinton High School

Aidan is an active member of his church youth group and is currently in the process of becoming an Eagle Scout.

Aidan has participated in Cross Country lettering 3 times, SBAAC All-Star Twice, Southwest District 8th place finisher and a regional qualifier. In track he has lettered 3 times, was an SBAAC all-star in the long jump, and the 800 & 1600 meter, and was named male track athlete for 2019 in the Southwest district where he placed 3rd in the 800 and was a regional qualifier. He has also lettered twice in tennis while also being a 9-time member of the SBAAC Academic Team.  Aidan is an active member of his church youth group and is currently in the process of becoming an Eagle Scout.

Matthew O. – Blanchester High School

Matthew has been described as a “great person with a very kind heart.”

Matthew continually demonstrates outstanding leadership, character and sportsmanship.  He works hard to achieve a 4.0 GPA while taking AP, Honors and college classes. While Matthew holds himself to such high academic standards, he thrives in participating in FFA, Drama Club, Academic Team, Track and Field, Soccer, National Honors Society and Cross Country.  In FFA he holds the position of Vice President of Leadership. To top it all off, Matthew has been described as a “great person with a very kind heart.”
