Student Drivers in the Southeast Get an Interactive Look at Professional Truck Driving Jobs

The R+L Carriers Hometown Showcase recently visited Georgia and South Carolina championing professional truck driving jobs. Recruiters spoke with many dedicated students working toward obtaining their Class A CDL license. Drivers are the backbone of our business and we’re eager to provide careers for aspiring truckers! Our Kennesaw, GA service center even joined in on the fun, coordinating with the R+L Carriers Hometown Showcase for an open house recruiting event.

Here’s a wrap up of our time in the Southeast.

Chattahoochee Tech and Georgia Piedmont Tech College

In Acworth, GA our team met Chattahoochee Tech students participating in the school’s commercial truck driving module. This 37-day certificate program develops fundamentals necessary for those seeking a Class A CDL license. Students can also pursue endorsements in Hazmat, Double Truck and Triple Truck, making for well-rounded drivers. Our second stop found us at Georgia Piedmont Technical College, another school with a commercial truck driving curriculum. Their eight-week program consists of 220 hours of instruction and 750 miles on the road, culminating in eligibility to test for a Class A CDL. Our recruiters highlighted the benefits of becoming an R+L Carriers city or linehaul driver, drawing interest from both schools.

Kennesaw Open House Hiring Event

On Dec. 6, the R+L Carriers Hometown Showcase partnered with our Kennesaw, GA service center to host an open house career event. Dock workers and clerical staff were in high demand and we got to meet several prospective employees. Palmetto Training Inc.

South Carolina is known as the Palmetto State so it’s only right we visited Palmetto Training Inc. Their driving school offers weekday and weekend classes mixed with on the road training experience. New students are accepted every Monday and can obtain their CDL in as little as 4 weeks or 8 weekends! After touring the hauler, we left students with some R+L memorabilia to remember us next time they’re filling out applications for professional truck driving jobs.
